Zweifel Pomy-Chips AG achieved sales of 301 million Swiss francs for the first time in 2023, the same year it celebrated its 65th anniversary. This resulted in sales growth of 13.2 million in 2023. “The positive result reflects the strength of our brand. Not only in retail, but particularly in the catering and convenience sector," CEO Christoph Zweifel is quoted as saying in a statement. The company also announced that it plans to invest over 40 million Swiss francs in a new snack plant at its production site in Spreitenbach.
In 2023, Zweifel also exceeded the production of 10,000 tonnes of crisps and snacks for the first time. The company is planning to expand its production facilities in Spreitenbach to both produce larger quantities, and to do so more efficiently and sustainably. Construction work is due to start in summer 2024. The new plant is scheduled to go into operation in spring 2027.
The snack manufacturer has already invested over 40 million Swiss francs in the site. Additionally, Zweifel is investing in new technologies at the Berger production site in Münsingen near Bern in 2024 to make production more efficient. Zweifel has another site in the Höngg neighbourhood of Zurich.
The growth is a direct result of the strategic development of the family business, the statement continues. In 2023, Zweifel launched the new product VAYA Waffles and with it, entered the snack segment. "We are developing into a comprehensive snack provider," said the CEO. "With our two brands Zweifel and Berger, we offer snacks in both the savoury and sweet segments, covering every snack break 24/7."
