Additional registration for industrial machine parts in Korea

According to the Korean Ministry of Food, Drugs and Security (MFDS), special registration requirements apply for all industrial parts and machines that come into direct contact with food. Swiss companies must take note of these when exporting to Korea.

Registration for machines that come into contact with foodstuffs must be renewed every two years.

For Swiss exporters, the regulations in Korea mean that they have to provide complete manufacturing information for every part of their product or their machine. The prerequisite for application is that the product or the machine comes into contact with food.

The information required includes name, address, representative, telephone number and e-mail address. If the parts come from different manufacturers, these have to be registered separately. The Korean Ministry demands that registration be renewed every two years. The law has been in force since 2016.
