Two universities from the Greater Zurich Area have secured top spots in the latest edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject.
The Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) is the best university in the world for Earth and Marine Sciences. For six other subjects too, the university featured in the top ten. Among them, its Architecture course ranked one place higher than last year in fourth position.
The University of Zurich, which featured in the rankings for 31 subjects, is the best ranked Swiss university overall.
Beyond the Greater Zurich Area, the Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne fared well, securing second place for Hospitality and Leisure Management.
Swiss universities earned a total of 13 top 10 spots across the 48 categories. Only the USA, Great Britain, Canada and Australia performed better.
QS also publishes the QS World University Rankings by Faculty, which rates the performance of universities in five main faculty areas. Switzerland’s best ranking in this table came courtesy of the ETH, which secured fourth place for Engineering and Technology.
