In today's digital age, how important is it for Swiss companies to have a presence at the Fintech Festival in Singapore?
Trade fairs or marketplaces have been a central meeting place for trading products and services for centuries. It goes without saying that digitization simplifies this exchange. However, a personal conversation or handshake remains irreplaceable, and Swiss companies appreciate this added value. In addition, Southeast Asia is an attractive market for Swiss Fintech companies that want to draw attention to their solutions. There is thus great interest in our joint stand, the SWISS Pavilion, at the Fintech Festival in Singapore in November.
What makes Southeast Asia so attractive for Swiss Fintech companies?
Singapore is one of the world's leading financial markets, due in part to its business-friendly environment, excellent government support, easy regulation and access to specialist knowledge. From 2014 to 2016 alone, almost 200 Fintech companies began operating in Singapore and the market is growing steadily. Of course, innovative solutions from Swiss companies are also in demand there, as Switzerland has enormous expertise in the rapidly growing area of financial technology. The market in Southeast Asia thus enables Swiss SMEs and startups to continue growing.
What makes Swiss Fintech companies stand out?
Switzerland is a very innovative country. We have led the Global Innovation Index for several years. This is of course also reflected in Swiss Fintech companies. However, it is not only constant innovation that marks these companies out, but also expertise, adaptability and highly-skilled employees. We at Switzerland Global Enterprise support Swiss SMEs in exporting their Fintech products and at the same time show foreign companies the potential of Switzerland as a business location.
How important is Switzerland for the international Fintech market?
Switzerland enjoys an international reputation as a reliable and innovative financial center.
These years of experience combined with technological expertise and a top infrastructure offer excellent conditions for the Fintech sector. Switzerland is also actively working to reduce regulatory barriers to market entry for Fintech companies. It is no coincidence that the “Crypto Valley” in Central Switzerland has developed into a strong ecosystem, which brings together an incredible number and variety of crypto companies, experts and innovative startups in a small area.
