US sanctions against Iran

On May 8, US President Trump declared an end to the US involvement in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (nuclear agreement) and announced the reintroduction of sanctions against Iran.

The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO states that the legal situation in Switzerland concerning Iran is unchanged by the decision of the USA on sanction issues. "US sanctions have no direct consequences for Switzerland. However, the reintroduction of earlier US sanctions may have economic implications for Swiss companies that maintain business relations with Iran. The US has thus emphasized that they will be strictly implementing the reintroduced sanctions." The Federal government recommends that companies that maintain business relations with Iran keep a close eye on the situation and contact the responsible Federal agencies if any uncertainties arise.
