RhySearch celebrated its fifth anniversary on Thursday. The research and innovation centre specialises in high-quality coating technologies, packing technology and precision manufacturing. Together with partner institutions, it also helps companies shorten their development times by providing research services and knowledge transfer.
As part of its anniversary celebrations, RhySearch opened a new laboratory for ultra-precise manufacturing on Thursday.
“Today’s opening means that RhySearch’s goal of becoming an international centre of competence for ultra-precise manufacturing in the medium term has moved a big step forward,” said St.Gallen government councillor Bruno Damann.
A number of representatives from politics, science and business attended the celebrations, including Liechtenstein Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Affairs Daniel Risch. Liechtenstein has been providing financial support to the research centre together with the Canton of St.Gallen.
In his speech, Risch pointed out that RhySearch has developed into a valuable “innovation hub” over the past five years, which he characterised as a manifestation of the fruitful, cross-border cooperation between Liechtenstein and the Canton of St.Gallen. He also highlighted RhySearch’s importance to the Rhine Valley. Forty-four per cent of the jobs in that region are in the industry sector; across Switzerland as a whole, it is only 25 per cent.
