The USA's little brother and Switzerland's second-largest trade partner in North America, Canada is also a very interesting destination for companies from Western Switzerland due to its two national languages, English and French. For Swiss SMEs, Canada represents both the ideal first market in North America and a free trade partner.

Industrial and agricultural standards are mutually recognized and, while licensing formalities have not been entirely removed, they have been simplified greatly. Canada's market is manageable, average price levels are high and, thanks to the bilingualism in the East, the country has cultural similarities to Switzerland. Despite this cultural proximity, products and services in Canada should be adapted to the linguistic region. The same applies to marketing.
