After sanctions against the Islamic Republic were lifted in 2016, a market of 80 million people with an average age of 30 was opened up to world trade. In 2018, however, the USA decided to reintroduce sanctions against the Republic on the Persian Gulf. Switzerland has not imposed any sanctions on Iran, although there are certain limitations and reporting obligations in place. Exporters are therefore well advised to consult the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO in each case.
