Baumer has been awarded the inspect award 2021 for its VeriSens XF/XC900 vision sensors that are suited for applications in the field of robotics, as detailed in a press release issued by the manufacturing company based in the St.GallenBodenseeArea. With this award, the publishing house Wiley-VCH honors innovative products in the field of industrial image processing on an annual basis. Baumer emerged victorious in the category of Vision.

With the XF/XC900 sensors, Baumer ensures that the hand-eye coordination that would otherwise be required for industrial robots tasked with carrying out inspection activities is now a thing of the past. In the press release, Baumer explains how the robots can learn how to see in “only a few minutes”, all the while offering “higher accuracy” at the same time. For this, Baumer uses SmartGrid, an intelligent calibration target for which a patent is currently pending. This facilitates automated coordinate alignment. The award-winning sensors can therefore drastically expand robotic functionalities, as these are additionally able to recognize and therefore also grip freely placed parts even beyond fixed waypoints.
