The original plan was to make UKCA marking mandatory as early as January 1, 2022 (except for medical devices). The UK government has, however, now announced that it will extend the transitional deadline until January 1, 2023.
The UKCA marking replaces the previous safety marking used by the United Kingdom during its membership in the EU. Companies were able to start using the UKCA marking voluntarily from January 1, 2021, in order to demonstrate their compliance with product standards in England, Scotland and Wales. CE marking is still required for deliveries to Northern Ireland.
Further information on utilization and the transition periods can be found here.
