Pilatus’ intelligent trainer can be used to train “a new generation of student pilots and turn them into first class military aviators” according to a press release from the aircraft manufacturer based in Nidwalden. This describes “a state-of-the-art cockpit with smart avionics” at the heart of the new PC-7 MKX.

In this cockpit, Pilatus uses a primary flight display and two additional displays for navigation, inputting flight plan data, and an overview of various flight systems. The flight display and multifunctional displays can also have a touch function. In addition to a comprehensive basic configuration, the avionics suite offers different additional options.

Overall, the PC-7 MKX can “optimize training time and reduce training cost per pilot” according to the press release. Other described advantages of the trainer, which is based on conventional designs for the wings, fuselage and empennage, are its robustness, reliability and the low operating and maintenance costs.

The press release goes on to say that the PC-7 MKX will be presented to the public for the first time at the Dubai Airshow. The smart trainer will be exhibited there from November 15 in the Pilatus pavilion in the static exhibition area.
