For the 18th consecutive year, Zurich Airport has received the prestigious World Travel Award denoting the best airport in Europe. An international jury comprising experts from the tourism and hospitality sectors have been awarding this prize for 27 years to exceptional service providers across various areas of the travel and tourism sector.

“In these difficult times in particular, the award is a great honor for us”, comments Stephan Widrig, CEO of Flughafen Zürich AG, in a press release, before adding: “It is recognition for the excellent cooperation between all our airport partners and the huge commitment of everyone working at Zurich Airport”.

In addition, the two airports in Florianópolis and Vitória operated by Flughafen Zürich AG were recognized as the best airports in Brazil. As part of government-led monthly quality surveys, these airports won the most votes from passengers.

Owing to the takeover by Zurich Airport International and opening of a new terminal in October 2019, Florianópolis eclipsed the rest of the competition. At Vitória Airport, Zurich Airport International has made investments to upgrade passenger comfort. “With our Swissness and our understanding of excellent quality and services, we have shown that these are values that passengers really appreciate”, comments Tobias Markert, CEO Zurich Airport Latin America, in the press release.
