DeNexus has chosen the Greater Zurich Area as the center for its expansion into Europe. The risk modeler for cyber-attacks and their costs plans to support industrial companies, global insurers and reinsurers, and insurance-linked securities investors from its new location in Lugano.

DeNexus Chief Technology Officer Alessandro Nepoti commented in a press release: “Switzerland is an ideal base for us to open our European operations, as it combines German, eastern and southern European influences and it is a traditional hub for the insurance business.” Founder and CEO of DeNexus José M. Seara added: “We are aiming to create a new hub of cyber knowledge here in Switzerland, part of DeNexus Knowledge Center.”

The company from Sausalito, California, has recruited Marco Sabitini as a senior software architect. He co-founded Ticino Software Craft, an online community of IT specialists, and previously worked at Nozomi Networks in Mendrisio in the canton of Ticino. Mario Pio Goiosa is joining from lastminute.com, where he was employed as a technical reference and software engineer.

Nepoti stated: “The cyber risk management and risk transfer communities need to trust the numbers when it comes to cyber breaches, and for that, you need to attract the top software talent, which we have done with the appointments of Marco and Mario, who bring unique software and big data experience to DeNexus.” The plan is for more members to be added to the team soon.
