Lantal launches a new Digital Deep Dyeing technology for aircraft carpets

Lantal, a Swiss company based in Bern that has specialized in the production of textiles for more than a century, is launching a new technology for deep dyeing yarns for aircraft carpets, Digital Deep Dyeing.

This innovative technique is revolutionizing the airline industry by providing a more sustainable and customizable dyeing solution while reducing environmental impact.
This innovative technique is revolutionizing the airline industry by providing a more sustainable and customizable dyeing solution while reducing environmental impact.

With over 135 years of experience in textile production, Lantal has developed a unique expertise in designing, manufacturing, and distributing textiles and services for operators of various means of transportation, such as airplanes, trains, buses, and super yachts. For example, it was this company that developed the first seat covers for KLM, the Dutch airline.

The new technology developed by Lantal is based on Deep Dyeing. This dyeing technique allows the pigments to penetrate deep into the textile fibers, thus guaranteeing a uniform and resistant coloring over time. As conceptualized by Lantal, Digital Deep Dyeing applies this dyeing method digitally to the yarns used to manufacture aircraft carpets. With this innovative technology, it is possible to obtain customized carpets in just a few days, with vibrant colors and increased precision in design.

A promising new technology

The new Digital Deep Dyeing method features a smaller environmental footprint due to significantly reduced CO2 emissions and water consumption compared to the traditional method. In addition, it allows for the rapid production of customized and extremely lightweight mats and increased precision in design. “This is a groundbreaking moment for Lantal and we are delighted to be able to offer this revolutionary technology to our airline customers worldwide,” says Urs Rickenbacher, CEO of Lantal.

The new Digital Deep Dyeing method is a promising solution for the airline, rail, and automotive industries, marking an important step in the development of cost-effective and environmentally friendly dyeing solutions.
