Founded in 2021, biped.ai emerged as a pioneering force with its AI copilot system, a smart navigation harness inspired by autonomous driving technologies. This wearable device, designed to be worn on the shoulders, is outfitted with 3D cameras and AI algorithms. It provides real-time guidance and obstacle avoidance, significantly enhancing the independence and safety of visually impaired users. Building on its innovative approach, biped.ai secured a partnership with the Honda Research Institute in late 2022 for software innovation and was awarded the “Prix de la Canne Blanche” by SZBlind (UCBA) earlier this year.

In addition, several SICTIC investors, including Marcel Egger, contributed, alongside support from Venture Kick, FIT, Future of Health Grant, Genilem, and the Biopole startup fund.
With this new funding, the Vaud-based start-up is set to venture into the US market and expand its footprint in Europe. This strategic move aims to cater to a large demographic of visually impaired individuals in the United States seeking advanced mobility solutions. Furthermore, the expansion in Europe is poised to strengthen biped.ai’s position as a leading provider of assistive technologies on the continent.
