The World Bank has named Florian Strasser, CEO and Chairman of the Board of GWF AG, as one of 15 CEO Champions for the Youth Innovation Challenge, further details of which can be found in a press release issued by GWF. Innovative young entrepreneurs from the water sector are invited to take part in the competition. “This initiative is a great opportunity to inspire more young professionals worldwide about the topic of water and to provide them with support so that they can be successful with their ideas”, comments Strasser in the press release.

The Youth Innovation Challenge was launched in December 2023 at the COP 28 UN Climate Conference and is set to run until October of this year. The competition is searching for young people active in the water industry with innovative business ideas that can make a contribution to overcoming the challenges associated with climate change. In particular, the organizers are interested in solutions for problems such as too much water, too little water, contaminated water and mismanagement in dealing with this precious resource. “The challenges associated with water and the energy transition are so significant that they can only be addressed through collaborative efforts within a network”, Strasser states, before adding: “That’s why I’m particularly looking forward to getting to know promising young personalities through the Youth Innovation Challenge”.
