Geneva’s Campus Biotech Innovation Park welcomes a new company.

The Biostime Group, a leading Chinese nutrition and baby care products provider, has just opened a research center at Campus Biotech Innovation Park in Geneva. The new entity – which operates under the name of Biostime Institute for Nutrition and Care (BINC) – aims at promoting scientific and technological development in the fields of nutrition, psychology and care. Its research activities will focus on gut microbiota, probiotics and anti-infective agents, as well as on personalized nutrition and breast milk.

Strong synergies with academia and research institutions

The establishment of BINC in Geneva will strengthen the scientific collaboration between China, Switzerland and Europe. According to Luo Fei, CEO of the Biostime Group, the choice of Switzerland came naturally: “The country is very well positioned in the baby care products market. All nutritional sciences are particularly advanced here thanks to a large network of experts in food and pharma, as well as to the presence of renowned schools such as EPFL. This cutting-edge ecosystem is the ideal breeding ground for a company like Biostime, which focuses on high-end consumers and quality products”, he said.

The creation of the Geneva structure was supported by the Greater Geneva Bern area (GGBa). Just back from China, its Executive Director Thomas Bohn is very pleased with this investment: “The establishment of Biostime in Geneva reflects the growing interest of major Chinese groups in Switzerland as a business location. China is a country with great potential for us: additional investments are expected in the months to come”.
