DigitalZurich2025 was established last year with the aim of positioning Zurich as an attractive location for digital start-ups, businesses and talents. With the new rebrand to digitalswitzerland, the cross-industry initiative is expanding its engagement throughout Switzerland. According to a statement, digitalswitzerland will expand into western Switzerland, the Basel region and Ticino. It also plans to establish an office at the Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).
“It will be beneficial to shift our focus towards a Swiss-wide initiative in order to even better use the cross-sectorial location advantage of Switzerland,” explained Marc Walder, CEO of Ringier AG and founder of digitalswitzerland.
digitalswitzerland also announced that it has launched a new initiative called Education Digital, a non-profit, online platform that offers a comprehensive and transparent overview of the educational opportunities available in Switzerland in the digital field.
“The demand for well-trained employees is high – especially among Swiss small and medium-sized enterprises”, said Walder. SMEs are an important driver for innovation in the Swiss economy, but they often lack the time and money to move their exciting ideas forward. The platform will help SMEs overcome this challenge with educational offers.
The new platform counts 21 institutions from Switzerland and Germany among its partners, including the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich and the University of St.Gallen.
