The application of energy efficiency measures is one of the most relevant public policies for Chile, given the multiple benefits for the citizens. It allows to reduce the energy cost for final users, reduce global and local emissions, reduce energy dependency from international markets, limit the usage of territory for energy infrastructure and increase the productivity through the reduction of production costs related with the energy consumption, which also results in an increase of a national energy security.
In sectors where the Energy Efficiency Law and the National Energy Efficiency Plan establish mandatory actions, measures and standards, there are great opportunities for Switzerland due to its capacity for technological innovation and production which positions it as a world leader in transport networks, generation of electricity from renewable sources and energy efficiency.
