Customs formalities for temporary exports

Do you ship goods abroad to be used for a limited period and then reimported? Read our guide below to find out what the supervised customs procedure entails and the basic conditions that need to be met in order to reimport the goods duty-free.

Export

Basic conditions for processing goods as temporary exports

Our guide presents customs procedures for domestic goods used abroad for a limited period of time and which are then reimported duty-free. These are part of supervised customs procedures and must meet basic conditions in order to be used. These procedures essentially require the product to be reimported in an unaltered state after temporary use abroad (used is not considered as altered).  We recommend that you check in advance whether a definitive export followed by a normal import procedure would be cheaper in terms of the costs and expenses of the temporary procedures.

Various customs procedures for temporary exports

  1. ATA Carnet
  2. ZAVV / Customs declaration for temporary admission
  3. Special customs declarations Read more about the advantages and disadvantages of these procedures in our guide.
