Statron: Consistent focus on customer needs

Since its foundation in 1976, Statron has developed into the leading international manufacturer of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) solutions and battery systems, with an export share of over 80%.

The systems are used wherever a continuous flow of energy is required: in power plants, waste incineration plants, hospitals, airports, tunnels, factories, oil platforms, refineries, etc. Statron has production capacities and state-of-the-art test field environments in Switzerland, Malaysia and Hungary, and can rely on a multidisciplinary research and development team.

Progressive growth in sales and profit
In recent years, the company has seen progressive growth in sales and profits thanks to its strong focus on customer needs, fast decision-making and reliable products with high-quality technology. "Our products are unbeatable in terms of reliability," says Dr Ruben Vogelsang, CEO of Stratron. "And we go out of our way to meet our customers' needs. What also helps us succeed is the fact that as a small company we are flexible and close to our customers and the market – as well as having, of course, technical excellence and the Swiss seal of quality."

Strong international position
With its eight subsidiaries in Malaysia, India, the United Arab Emirates, Hungary, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands and French-speaking Switzerland, the market leader has invested in local sales and service organizations, thus strengthening its international position. The company was supported by S-GE in the area of VAT inquiries as well as customs tariffs and import formalities. Statron employs over 200 people worldwide and has successfully delivered and installed more than 30,000 UPS and battery systems. These are in service with more than 3,000 customers in over 100 countries.

Business in key international markets
Statron's customers include end users such as power plants, solar park companies, hospitals and airports in Austria, Germany and Hungary. The Swiss company has been present in Austria since 2001, in Germany since 2002 and in Hungary since 2005. It entered the market in the Middle East in 2005 and in the Asia-Pacific region in 2009. In contrast to Europe, the main business there is conducted through EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) companies such as GE and Siemens, which are comparable to a general contractor. The export strategy is to open up Saudi Arabia next, as the country has a lot of catching up to do in terms of infrastructure, and to selectively expand the markets in Germany and the Netherlands.
