The Gallus Group from St.Gallen, a subsidiary of Heidelberg, the German manufacturer of printing machines, is celebrating its centenary. As part of the celebrations to mark this significant company milestone, the company has opened a new innovation center as part of the Gallus Experience Days.
According to a press release, the Gallus Experience Center intends to focus on the digital transformation in the label and narrow-web industry and to foster collaborations within the industry. The project aims to drive innovation and sustainability. Manufacturers, suppliers, processors, printers and brand manufacturers will test and develop new technologies at the center. In parallel with the opening of the center, a new Heidelberg customer portal will be launched, which should help to alleviate the shortage of skilled workers and increase production efficiency by 35 percent.
“As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of Gallus, HEIDELBERG is delighted to stand alongside the Gallus team this week – united, as one Group”, comments Dr. Ludwin Monz, CEO of Heidelberg, in the press release. “With labels and packaging now representing 50 percent of the Group's total sales, the new digital and automated solutions we see introduced by Gallus today play an important role in the future of HEIDELBERG. As a result, Gallus is an important pillar within the company’s growth strategy, and we’re more committed than ever to its long-term future”, he concludes.
